\nThe Top 5 Things to Look for on a Campus Tour:<\/span><\/p>\n

1) Grass and flowers.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s face it \u2013 you\u2019re not buying a skillet, you\u2019re choosing a place to live for four years.\u00a0 Don\u2019t you want it to look nice?\u00a0 No, it\u2019s not the most important thing, but it is something.\u00a0 And something counts.<\/p>\n

2) College gear.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Don\u2019t worry about whether students are smiling or not (do you smile when walking to a calculus exam?), notice whether or not students are wearing clothing or gear with their school\u2019s name on it.\u00a0 No one flies the flag for a school they dislike.<\/p>\n

3) People holding doors.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

When someone holds a door for you, it is a sign that they understand that they are not alone in this world \u2013 they realize you<\/span> exist, they acknowledge it and they\u2019re going to try and make your day just a tiny bit better.\u00a0 That\u2019s the kind of place you want to spend four years.\u00a0 Now return the favor.<\/p>\n

4) Fat squirrels.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Want to ride the subway to class in college?\u00a0 Great \u2013 ignore this step.\u00a0 But if you have ever pictured yourself in college hanging out on a quad and walking to class across a grassy, green vista then you want to see squirrels on your tour.\u00a0 If you see squirrels, then there trees and grass on that campus.\u00a0 If they are fat, then there\u2019s lots of trees.\u00a0 And no coyotes.\u00a0 And that\u2019s something, too.\u00a0 And something counts.<\/p>\n

5) Stairs.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Seriously, no one dreams of going to college and falling out<\/span> of shape.\u00a0 Going up and down stairs will keep you fit.
