{"id":2328,"date":"2016-07-13T09:32:33","date_gmt":"2016-07-13T13:32:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/admissions.me.holycross.edu\/?p=2328"},"modified":"2016-07-13T09:32:33","modified_gmt":"2016-07-13T13:32:33","slug":"woo-for-worcester","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.holycross.edu\/admissions\/2016\/07\/13\/woo-for-worcester\/","title":{"rendered":"Woo! for Worcester"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Did you know that Worcester is the second-largest city in New England? \u00a0Of its 185,000 residents, students make up about one-fifth of the population, with 38,000 students attending 12 institutions of higher education. \u00a0I learned this during a bus\u00a0tour led by members of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worcesterchamber.org\/\">Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce<\/a>. \u00a0It was a beautiful summer day, and our hour-long tour included a drive past <a href=\"http:\/\/portal.techhigh.us\/Pages\/default.aspx\">Worcester Technical High School<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpi.edu\/\">WPI<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worcesterart.org\/\">Worcester Art Museum<\/a>, and several parks, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worcesterma.gov\/dpw\/parks-rec\/city-parks\/elm-park\">Elm Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">As a staff member who does not live in Worcester, it delighted me to learn more! Please read on for some of our staff member&#8217;s favorite places to eat near campus:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">1. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sweetworcester.com\/\">Sweet<\/a>\u00a0(72 Shrewsbury St) is a great\u00a0option for pastries\u2026one of my colleagues said, \u201cThe dosants are amazing\u2013and were invented way before the Cronut!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">2. Another popular pastry shop is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/culpeppers-bakery-and-cafe-worcester\">Culpepper\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0(500 Cambridge St # 3). \u00a0A counselor recommended the yellow cookies, which are butter cookies drizzled with chocolate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">3. The Roasted Red (pizza) at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cornergrille.com\/\">Corner Grille<\/a>\u00a0(806 Pleasant St) is beloved in our office for its delicious, thin crust and high-quality ingredients.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">4. For a more southern feel, try\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbqstack.com\/\">Smokestack Urban BBQ<\/a> (139 Green St). You can never go wrong with their fried pickles!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Bon appetit, and come <a href=\"http:\/\/www.destinationworcester.org\/\">explore Worcester<\/a>!
