{"id":42,"date":"2008-09-01T05:52:00","date_gmt":"2008-09-01T09:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/admissions.me.holycross.edu\/2008\/09\/01\/doughnuts-and-duets\/"},"modified":"2008-09-01T05:52:00","modified_gmt":"2008-09-01T09:52:00","slug":"doughnuts-and-duets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.holycross.edu\/admissions\/2008\/09\/01\/doughnuts-and-duets\/","title":{"rendered":"Doughnuts and Duets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px;float: left\" src=\"http:\/\/me.holycross.edu\/blogimages\/drew.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Drew\" \/><br \/>\nSo you\u2019re ten years old \u2013 you\u2019re sitting at the kitchen table surrounded by stacks of unopened library books on a topic that you were supposed to have started researching weeks ago and now, here you are, the evening before your report is due and you are overwhelmed by the enormity of it all.\u00a0 In her book <em>Bird by Bird,<\/em> Anne Lamott describes her brother\u2019s experience with a 4th grade report on birds this way:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c. . . he was at the kitchen table close to tears, surrounded by binder paper and pencils and unopened books on birds, immobilized by the hugeness of the task ahead.
