{"id":47,"date":"2008-04-05T12:22:00","date_gmt":"2008-04-05T16:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/admissions.me.holycross.edu\/2008\/04\/05\/i%e2%80%99ve-received-my-letter-and-i%e2%80%99m-not-happy\/"},"modified":"2008-04-05T12:22:00","modified_gmt":"2008-04-05T16:22:00","slug":"ive-received-my-letter-and-im-not-happy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.holycross.edu\/admissions\/2008\/04\/05\/ive-received-my-letter-and-im-not-happy\/","title":{"rendered":"I\u2019ve Received My Letter, and I\u2019m Not Happy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/me.holycross.edu\/blogimages\/julia.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Julia\" \/>To the Holy Cross Office of Admissions:<\/p>\n<p>I just received my decision letter, and you guys got it WRONG.\u00a0 JUST PLAIN WRONG.<\/p>\n<p>P.S.\u00a0 WRONG<\/p>\n<p>Sound about right?<\/p>\n<p>We in the Admissions Office recognize that many of you are pretty disappointed right now and we just want you to know &#8212; we understand,\u00a0 we know this is tough, and we\u2019re really bummed, too.<\/p>\n<p>The frustration you\u2019re feeling is indeed justifiable.\u00a0 You\u2019re probably brilliant, hard working, charismatic, thoughtful, and talented.\u00a0 You\u2019re a three sport captain.\u00a0 A class president.\u00a0 An Irish step dancing mathlete.\u00a0 A bassoon-playing robotics champion.\u00a0 And on top of all of that, you are getting an A in AP Calc!\u00a0 You are an admit-a-la-mode.\u00a0 It may not feel like it right now, but we think the world of you.\u00a0 And though you may have visions of us sitting around some big table, laughing devilishly, drumming our fingers together a\u2019 la Mr. Burns, casting out careless decisions while contemplating the many delicious ways to destroy your life, the fact is, none of us enjoy letting you down.\u00a0 Our decision making committee consists of a bunch of sappy, sensitive nerds, who\u2019ve committed the last four months of their lives to meticulously scouring your applications for every morsel of goodness.\u00a0 Deciding between such wonderful and often equally deserving students is incredibly grueling, and simply heartbreaking.\u00a0 Smiling devilishly? No.\u00a0 We rather feel like sulking in the corner.<\/p>\n<p>Please try not to doubt yourself or wonder what you could have done differently.\u00a0 Due to a record breaking number of applications totaling well over 7,200 (200 more than last year), and an insanely competitive applicant pool, we simply couldn\u2019t admit all of the admissible applicants we wanted to.\u00a0 \u00a0So, while we hope you can trust that we did our best to make the fairest decisions we could, we acknowledge and understand your disappointment.<\/p>\n<p>Please know that you are all stars.\u00a0 You\u2019re part of the most exceptionally talented applicant pool Holy Cross has ever seen, and we\u2019re confident that wherever you end up, you\u2019ll find unlimited success.<\/p>\n<p>Julia Sanders<br \/>\nAdmissions Counselor<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To the Holy Cross Office of Admissions: I just received my decision letter, and you guys got it WRONG.\u00a0 JUST PLAIN WRONG.
