{"id":9,"date":"2009-02-11T13:40:00","date_gmt":"2009-02-11T17:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/admissions.me.holycross.edu\/2009\/02\/11\/six-words\/"},"modified":"2009-02-11T13:40:00","modified_gmt":"2009-02-11T17:40:00","slug":"six-words","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.holycross.edu\/admissions\/2009\/02\/11\/six-words\/","title":{"rendered":"Six Words"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/holycrossadmissionsblog.typepad.com\/.a\/6a00e54ed0db8e8833010536f8f30b970b-pi\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"at-xid-6a00e54ed0db8e8833010536f8f30b970b alignleft\" style=\"margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px\" src=\"http:\/\/me.holycross.edu\/blogimages\/6a00e54ed0db8e8833010536f8f30b970b-800wi\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Drew\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the third in a series of blog entries \u2013 one week inside the application reading process at Holy Cross.<br \/>\n__________________________<\/p>\n<p>So I was listening to NPR today as I was reading applications and I heard a story about Smith Magazine and their 6 word memoir project \u2013 the point being to tell a person\u2019s story in exactly six words.\u00a0 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.smithmag.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.smithmag.net)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This got me thinking and writing.<\/p>\n<p>So here follows some of the applications I read today, individually summarized in exactly six words:<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore year do over,<br \/>\npretty please?<\/p>\n<p>Woman for others.<br \/>\nHC for her.<\/p>\n<p>So much potential,<br \/>\nSo few A\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Shredded right knee,<br \/>\nAthlete no more.<\/p>\n<p>Chemistry, physics, calculus \u2013<br \/>\nA\u2019s!<br \/>\nOh, my.<\/p>\n<p>Great with puck,<br \/>\nNot with calculator.<\/p>\n<p>She did what?<br \/>\nOh, dear me.<\/p>\n<p>More A\u2019s, fewer C\u2019s.<br \/>\nPlease, please.<\/p>\n<p>With all those activities,<br \/>\nStill valedictorian?<\/p>\n<p>School at home,<br \/>\nTeacher is who?<\/p>\n<p>Strong application.<br \/>\nPerfect cake, amazing icing.<\/p>\n<p>Neighborhood not safe,<br \/>\nPlease come here.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, calculus!<br \/>\nLike the Titanic\u2019s iceberg..<\/p>\n<p>Andrew N.
