Because it&#8217;s Spring in New England"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.holycross.edu\/admissions\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/27\/2009\/11\/JuliaSanders.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-411\" title=\"JuliaSanders\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.holycross.edu\/admissions\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/27\/2009\/11\/JuliaSanders.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"105\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Having moved back East after four years\u00a0of living a\u00a0stone\u2019s throw from the beach in\u00a0Los Angeles,\u00a0people often ask me,\u00a0\u201dWhy would anyone\u00a0leave California for Massachusetts?\u201d\u00a0 To me, the answer is simple:<\/p>\n<p>There is absolutely\u00a0<em>nothing<\/em> like spring in New England.<\/p>\n<p>You can smell its approach in the air.\u00a0 After an arguably \u201ccharacter-building\u201d winter, the first scent of spring  is nothing short\u00a0of amazing.\u00a0 It\u2019s an indescribable mix of soil and daffodils, mineral-y spring water, \u00a0and unadulterated joy.\u00a0 And the second that scent matures into sunshine, and the temperature ticks above\u00a0fifty degrees,\u00a0 the\u00a0air\u00a0buzzes with a new sense of excitement.\u00a0\u00a0 The flip flops come out,\u00a0 the window screens descend, the birds are chirpety chirping,\u00a0Youk is up to bat, and all is right with the world.<\/p>\n<p>New England\u2019s four seasons instill in its patrons a unique sense of appreciation\u2026an appreciation\u00a0\u00a0for the characteristics and rhythms that each season presents, and an appreciation \u00a0for how quickly one season is engulfed by the next.\u00a0 We learn to appreciate every day as it comes.\u00a0\u00a0 We watch the\u00a0multi-colored leaves dancing overhead as we head to the game.
