{"id":1156,"date":"2019-07-08T09:32:22","date_gmt":"2019-07-08T13:32:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/me.business.holycross.edu\/?p=1156"},"modified":"2019-07-08T09:32:22","modified_gmt":"2019-07-08T13:32:22","slug":"holy-cross-student-investment-fund-gains-traction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.holycross.edu\/business\/2019\/07\/08\/holy-cross-student-investment-fund-gains-traction\/","title":{"rendered":"Holy Cross Student Investment Fund Gains Traction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The HC Student Investment Club (HCSIF), is set to begin it&#8217;s third year this fall through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.holycross.edu\/academics\/ciocca-center-business-ethics-and-society\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">Ciocca Center for Business, Ethics, and Society.\u00a0<\/span><\/a>The goal of HCSIF is for students of all majors and class years to gain experience in the fields of asset valuation, equity research and portfolio management with the Bloomberg Terminal on campus.\u00a0 And as of last week, the students also have access to Capital IQ, an investment analysis tool used to inform investment strategies.<\/p>\n<p>Students are taking the initiative to immerse themselves to gain technical skills and access to the alumni network and all of the hard work seems to be paying off as students are landing internships and full-time jobs.\u00a0 Co-founders, Andrew Smith &#8217;19 and Sean Manning &#8217;19, have secured employment at Goldman Sachs and Raytheon respectively, and the three new student leaders are interning at the following firms this summer.<\/p>\n<p>2019-2020 Holy Cross Student Investment Fund Leaders<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>John McConville &#8217;20: Equity Research Analyst, CTMA<\/li>\n<li>Margaret Burd &#8217;20: Securities Division Summer Analyst, Goldman Sachs<\/li>\n<li>John Boyd &#8217;21: Summer Analyst, inspire11<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1185\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1185\" style=\"width: 512px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.holycross.edu\/business\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/05\/HCSIF-students.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1185 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.holycross.edu\/business\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/05\/HCSIF-students.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"512\" height=\"324\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1185\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">HCSIF March 2019 Isenberg Pitch Competition Winners<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The students work closely with alumni throughout the year and had the opportunity to visit them on site during the 2019 spring\u00a0 semester.<\/p>\n<p>BOSTON: On March 19, Dan Atchinson &#8217;05, Tim Redmond &#8217;08, and Kevin O&#8217;Connor &#8217;12\u00a0 of J.P. Morgan hosted HCSIF students at the Boston office.\u00a0\u00a0 They each provided great insight to the industry and career advice over lunch.<\/p>\n<p>NEW YORK CITY : On April 24, hosted by Emmett Daly &#8217;82 at Sandler O&#8217;Neill, three groups of HCSIF students traveled to NYC.\u00a0 The students pitched stocks (including CVS, URI and Square) to an alumni panel followed by the opportunity to network.\u00a0 Thanks to the following alumni for participating in this annual event:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Julianna Biolsi &#8217;12: BAM Funds<\/li>\n<li>Emmet Daly &#8217;82: Sandler O\u2019Neill<\/li>\n<li>Taylor Esper &#8217;14: Sandler O\u2019Neill<\/li>\n<li>Sue Feitelberg &#8217;84: Morgan Stanley<\/li>\n<li>John Mullman &#8217;82 P07: Jennison<\/li>\n<li>Marshall McIntosh &#8217;95: PIMCO<\/li>\n<li>Beau Lescott &#8217;95: Inherent Group<\/li>\n<li>Arnold Principal &#8217;91: SYP Capital<\/li>\n<li>Joe Stangl &#8217;93: Sandler O\u2019Neill<\/li>\n<li>Ivan Watanabe &#8217;08: Opus<br \/>\n<hr \/>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thanks for reading!
