It was also Launch\u2019s first event in the newly-built Prior Performing Arts Center.\u00a0 The challenge was coordinated with a local business, Giesel Software Inc. (GSI), and some of the real-world problems they are facing.\u00a0 Students pitched in response to one of two challenges; 1) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">to develop a product or 2) propose a real-estate solution for a rapidly growing business. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">GSI\u2019s CEO and founder, Brian Giesel, sat on the judging panel, along with alums Will Spangenberg \u201822 and Ted Pidcock \u201888.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The first-place team, consisting of Elias Berhane \u201823, Christopher Fashek \u201823, and Brennan Hilger \u201823, impressed the judges with their creative solution to help prevent violent crime in public spaces using existing infrastructure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Winners:<\/p>\n<p>1st Place for $1,000<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">: <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Violence Detection Software<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\nElias Berhane &#8217;23, Christopher Fashek &#8217;23, Brennan Hilger &#8217;23<\/span><\/p>\n<p>2nd Place for $500: <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Property Growth Approach for Geisel<br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Christian Doscas &#8217;25, Michael Daly &#8217;25<\/span><\/p>\n<p>3rd Place for $250: <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Memory Hub<br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Marie James &#8217;24, Katie Stathoulopoulos &#8217;24<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Finally, the event concluded with an opportunity to network and enjoy a fantastic spread courtesy of Worcester\u2019s own Wholly Cannoli.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Sunday, March 19th, HC Launch hosted its first in-person Innovation Challenge event since the pandemic.
