{"id":2236,"date":"2018-04-12T15:54:58","date_gmt":"2018-04-12T15:54:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/careerplanning.me.holycross.edu\/?p=2236"},"modified":"2018-04-12T15:54:58","modified_gmt":"2018-04-12T15:54:58","slug":"meet-alum-chad-wright-92-senior-director-of-it-amazon-robotics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.holycross.edu\/careerplanning\/2018\/04\/12\/meet-alum-chad-wright-92-senior-director-of-it-amazon-robotics\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet Alum Chad Wright &#8217;92, Senior Director of IT, Amazon Robotics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.holycross.edu\/careerplanning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2018\/04\/unnamed.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2237\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.holycross.edu\/careerplanning\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/29\/2018\/04\/unnamed.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"370\" height=\"389\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Meet Alum Chad Wright &#8217;92, Senior Director of IT, Amazon Robotics\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>In one sentence, what does your job entail?<span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">As Senior Director of IT, I am responsible for the overall strategy and delivery of IT services, such as enterprise software, infrastructure, information security and service desk, that help our organization operate safely and efficiently.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What were you involved in when you were on campus?<span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">When I was on campus, I was a member of the Calculus Workshop (which also included the inaugural Computer Workshop) and a TA that graded lots of math homework.\u00a0 Though my baseball career was very brief (one season), my friends and I played just about every intramural sport the college offered.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What was your major and how did it affect your career decisions?<span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">I was a Mathematics major with a concentration in Computer Science.\u00a0 I studied what I loved and it led me into the direction of my career today.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t know anything about Information Technology and that&#8217;s why I&#8217;m so passionate about helping students learn more about the industry and be prepared for the opportunities that await them.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>What planned and unplanned events connected you to your industry and your first employer after Holy Cross?
