Although many may brush aside \u201cHarlem Shake\u201d as another fad of pop culture, several businesses are maximizing the hype with their own versions of the dance.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/thehiringsite.careerbuilder.com\/2013\/02\/21\/harlem-shake-employee-video\/\">an article <\/a>by Stephanie Gaspary of Career Builder, companies\u2019 \u201cHarlem<\/p>\n<p>Shake\u201d videos are being carefully deployed as corporate recruiting strategies. How &amp; why? Even for entry level jobs, companies are selling themselves to you just as much as you are selling yourself to them. They want to hone top talent to maintain top tier work. Numbers aside, compatibility between candidates and employers is essential and the character of a given company plays a big role in that relationship. If you\u2019re a company, what better way to break the \u201cbig scary business\u201d stereotype and flaunt your character than to make your own Harlem Shake video?<\/p>\n<p>So far, all sorts of corporations have jumped on the bandwagon from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=shJBFyct2XE\">PepsiCo<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tjXxzvvGyychttp:\/\/\">Intel<\/a>. Outside of the commercial milieu, everyone from soldiers in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4hpEnLtqUDghttp:\/\/\">Norwegian Army <\/a>to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=SbGFYjCbpRs\">Kansas University Men\u2019s Basketball team<\/a> completed \u201cHarlem Shake\u201d videos as a platform to broadcast their culture to the world.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.inc.com\/shelley-prevost\/lessons-in-company-culture-from-the-harlem-shake.html\">INC.com<\/a> claims companies with their own versions of the \u201cHarlem Shake\u201d are spreading the message that their business can fulfill the essentials needs of its employees, which are \u201cto feel, connect and belong to their company.\u201d Thus, \u201cHarlem Shake\u201d videos not only serve as a recruiting tool, but also as a method of increasing company morale.<\/p>\n<p>For students and future employees, \u201cHarlem Shake\u201d and its surprising strategic use reminds us to think outside the box\u2026. Sometimes weird methods have the biggest payoff!<\/p>\n<p>P.S.
