I\u2019m not really sure why professors made papers due this
\nweek. The campus is humming with election news from both sides. You can\u2019t walk
\nanywhere without hearing \u201cMcCain\u201d or \u201cObama.\u201d Even the library isn\u2019t quiet. I
\nactually had to leave tonight because some students became involved in a debate
\ntwo carrels down from me. So, while think it\u2019s great that our campus is so
\ncharged for the elections on both sides, I am beginning to wonder if it\u2019s at
\nall possible to move Election Day to the first Saturday of November. Not only
\nwould it help out college students, but more people might be able to get out
\nand vote! Or maybe I should\u2019ve factored Election Day into my planning for this
\nweek…<\/p>\n
Oh, yes, just a quick shout out. This morning at Kimball, we
\nplayed American History trivia to select jobs in honor of Election Day. My
\nfellow blogger, Melissa Browne, was the first one to guess the Lucetania when I
\nasked for the name of the ship that helped draw us into World War I.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m getting anxious simply because everything is due between
\nnow and Thanksgiving. Research papers, term papers, exams, applications\u2026it\u2019s
\nall adding up. The odd thing is that I\u2019m enjoying all of the work. Professor
\nManoussakis loved my topic for my Philosophy research paper (The influence of
\nAugustine\u2019s garden scenes on the structure of the Divine Comedy), and I\u2019m
\nactually excited to write that paper. I\u2019m currently writing on the absence of
\ncompunctio in the Divine Comedy (I really cannot escape Dante!), and, again,
\nI\u2019m loving it. I just wish that I was a tad more focused on writing the paper
\nthan checking the election results every five minutes or so! So, while the work
\nis really piling up, I\u2019m still loving it. I know that\u2019s an odd thing to say,
\nbut it is most certainly true. <\/p>\n
