One of the items on the campus bucket list is the famed “Kimball Challenge,” which involves staying and studying in Kimball for the entire day – 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. Well, there’s a version of this challenge specifically for Kimball captains – the Kimball Marathon. The challenge? Show up at 6:45 a.m. and work until 9:00 p.m. – a daunting total of 14 hours.\u00a0 Well, yesterday, Alyssa, Andrew, and I joined the ranks of the very few captains who have achieved this mark of distinction (insanity?).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>This was only after Breakfast (6:45-10:15). We were still determined to last.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

And the insanity begins to become evident…<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

This was after second lunch (12:15-3:00).<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

Midway through the Midday shift (3-6). This was the killer shift. Ugh, we both wanted to leave during this shift.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

See?<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n

And this was us at 8:30. <\/em><\/p>\n

Yes, Alyssa, Andrew, and I lasted until 9:00 p.m. It was also the last time that I’ll work in Kimball – ever. It’s a rather weird feeling – I’ve been working at Kimball since classes began my freshman year. There were times that it wasn’t glamorous (it’s a dining hall), and there were times that I wish I didn’t have a job. Yet, I’m glad that I stuck with it. Most importantly, the people that I met through Kimball were fantastic. And, of course, the paycheck at the end of the week wasn’t too bad, either… Cheers, Kimball!
