The Food and Fashion

During my study abroad, I rarely experienced a moment where I missed Kimball. In this blog I’ll describe more about what to expect for housing and dining accommodations.

Similar to Holy Cross you are applying to accommodations via a portal. This will commence as you recieve emails from the University. Through my experience and my peers, I was able to rank housing options provided to me. The greatest thing to be aware of is the difference between catered and uncatered. Debating your preferences and financial capabilities beforehand is very important and determines your experiences.

Here’s some of my top recommended places if you’re visiting or attending St Andrews:

Hatch: Classic spot for brunch with a great ambiance for light meals.

Mitchell’s: Lovely staff and great variety of food options. I met Howard during one of my lunch runs for the student deal (toastie with a soup for six-seven pounds). Another cool offer is their steak nights on Wednesdays.

Bibi’s Café: Another great option for a heavy breakfast. I loved having brunch here with friends. It opens very early and is wonderful for a coffee before the driving range.

North Point: This is a popular spot since it’s known for when Prince Williams and Princess Kate had frequented during their undergraduate studies.

Little Italy: The only good chain restaurant in town. A bit pricier but it’s a lovely ambiance for dinner (take your parents here!).

Café in the Square: Another café, you can try this for a wholesome vibe.

Hotel du Vin: Amazing staff members and bar.

Old Course Hotel: Awesome spot for afternoon tea with the best view of the Old Course.

Doppo in Soho, London: Welcoming staff members with an in-house sommelier. They had an amazing Italian menu with the coziest dining experience.

Lowdown Coffee in Edinburgh: Fun spot to stop by on Georges St.

Café Royal in Edinburgh: Good oysters.

Bye for now,
